September is the Deaf Awareness Month!
Come and join us for a statewide celebration of "California for ASL." It is hosted by California Association for the Deaf (CAD) and coordinated by Sheri Farinha of NorCal Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
This celebration in sync with National Association for the Deaf and World Association for the Deaf marks the 2d Annual International Sign Language Day. In honor of international Sign Language Day, CAD and the Coalition of Agencies Serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing have agreed to join forces toward recognition of American Sign Language as an official language in this state. The celebration event will be held on the South side of our state Capitol, Sacramento, California and expects a huge gathering of Deaf people from different walks of life, ASL Students, Deaf community allies, Sign Language interpreters, hearing child of Deaf Parents (CODAs) hearing parent using sign language with their hearing babies, and anyone who supports the recognition of ASL as a true language benefiting ALL children, Deaf or Hearing.
